NOTE: Work on firearms should always be performed by a competent gunsmith. If performing work yourself, please ensure the following:
· Follow all NRA Safety rules
· Make sure firearm is unloaded by removing magazine and visually checking for a live round in the chamber prior to removing action from the stock.
Installation Instructions:
-
Installation Instructions:
- Please read the installation instructions thoroughly prior to beginning installation.
- It is best to have all necessary tools on hand prior to beginning installation. Tools needed to complete installation:
Disassembly: Remove Trigger Guard from action by pressing the 2 Trigger housing pins out of the receiver.
-
Remove the existing magazine release from the Trigger Guard housing by applying very light pressure to the magazine (mag) plunger and pushing the magazine pivot pin out. Gently push the mag plunger in until the mag release falls out. (See fig. 1a)
- Remove the mag plunger and spring and set aside
3. Remove the ejector and bolt release plate from the trigger guard: While holding the bolt release spring down on the left side of the trigger guard, push the upper bolt release pivot pin out. Remove the ejector and set aside. Remove the bolt release plate and set aside.
Installation:
- Install the supplied #8-32 set screw in the Trigger Guard. The set screw will replace the magazine release pivot pin.
- With a size #29 drill bit (.136 diam.), drill out the mag release pivot pin hole on the bolt release side (left side) of the Trigger Guard.
- Partially install the set screw with the hex socket side to the outside of the Trigger Guard. Please Note – make sure that the set screw does NOT protrude thru the inside of the Trigger Guard at this time.
- Install the Rimfire Technologies Pull Action Magazine Release.
- Slide the R/T Pull Action Mag Release up into place from the bottom of the Trigger Guard as you would a factory mag release. Please Note – The pivot pin holes in the R.T. Pull Action Mag Release are to line up with the forward receiver/Trigger Guard pin holes.
After lining up the pivot pin holes in the R.T. Pull Action Mag Release with the receiver/ Trigger Guard pin holes, insert the included slave pin(fig. 3a) to hold the Mag release in proper position.(See Fig.3b)
If using the recommended Rimfire Technologies Automatic Bolt Release/Hold Open plate, drop it into place making sure that the bolt release spring is on top of the bolt release plate leg. Please Note – If using any other type of bolt release/hold open plate, material from the top portion of the bolt release plate(fig. 4a) just forward the top pivot pin hole will need to be removed so it will clear the R.T. Pull Action Mag Release.

· Line up the lower R.T. Bolt Release pivot pin hole with the set screw and screw the set screw in until thehead captures the full width of the R.T. Bolt Release plate – just about flush with the outside of the TG housing.
· Install the small upper ejector/bolt release Trigger Guard pin making sure that the top arm of the bolt release spring is under the pin and the lower arm is on top of the plate’s extention/leg/????.
· Install the Lateral Tension Spring by gently drifting out the ejector/bolt release trigger guard pin from the left side of the trigger guard allowing enough room to install the included Lateral Tension Spring. FWIW I found it easier to do it from the other side so the pin held the plate and ejector still in place.
· Compress the Lateral Tension Spring enough to allow the spring to fit between the ejector on the left side of the trigger guard and the bolt release spring on the right side of the trigger guard. With the Lateral Tension Spring in place, re-insert the ejector/bolt release trigger guard pin back in place(fig. 5a).

Although the Lateral Tension Spring is not always needed, there are instances when the Bolt Release/Hold Open plate has a tendency to cant slightly inward. This canting will place unwanted side tension on the Rimfire Technologies Pull Action Magazine Release.
The Lateral Tension Spring will also cure the sometimes “Sloppy” fit of the ejector eliminating the flopping around as it does in most trigger groups.
In trigger groups where the ejector is a very snug fit (older epoxied units) there may be insufficient slack for the ejector to hold against the Bolt Release/Hold Open plate. For these specific instances, we are including a small washer (or do you want to say shim?). It is to be installed on the pin in between the plate and the ejector and will allow the lateral tension
Spring to hold the plate in place against the inner Trigger Guard wall.

Features
- Uses a revolutionary pull motion that is silky smooth and incredibly easy to use.
- By using a new pivot placement the direction of motion is reversed and leverage is greatly increased. Why would you push your extended release into the way of the dropping magazine when you can use the natural direction of motion of your trigger finger to release the magazine as the magazine release now swings out of the way of the magazine instead of the old hard push that leads only to fumbling around for magazine changes. After over 40 years of a stagnate design, the innovators at R/T comprised a solution that combines a compact high performance release that looks great with an ergonomically correct placement and motion never before found on a Ruger 10/22.
- Kit comes complete with a slave pin to help with receiver pin installation, lower pivot replacement screw and optional pre-load spring are included with your choice of release and also a good set of installation directions.
- Available in all of the popular R/T colors
- Fits the factory Ruger 10/22 housing, the VQ TG2000 housings and also the R/T trigger group housings.
- Once you try this option, you’ll never settle for anything else ever again!
